1961 is an artistic interpretation of cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin’s historic flight as the first man in space. With Yuri at the helm, we are taken on a voyage through a world of illustration and typography inspired by science fiction, Russian constructivism, information graphics, and 1980s arcade games.

Tales from the heart

For this project we chose the human heart as a guiding theme, that and the black, white and red colour scheme were the only limitations we set for ourselves. We then each went our separate ways to create the content of this piece. We came back together a week later to mash it all together into the chaotic eye candy you see before you. Encompassing a wide range of styles and techniques ranging from hand drawn to complex particle systems, Tales from the Heart is a wild ride through the body, the gutter and the cosmos.
